Shawn believes in making real food for real people. As a caterer, he brings his years of experience creating delicious home-style meals to make your event a success. He is well known for his Roast Beef Dinners, Cinnamon Buns and many other excellent dishes. He is not afraid to try new things and is always open to work with you to plan a menu that will complement your event.

Shawn is an avid outdoorsman and love to camp and backpack. He also loves to cook. Shawn had a reputation among family and friends as an excellent cook. Whether it was dinner for the family, chili and pulled pork for a holiday get-together, or any of his amazing sauces, the food that came out of his kitchen was known to be the best. He also loves to create good quality meals for backpacking.

Whether cooking at home, on a BBQ, over an open fire, on a camp stove or in a full-blown commercial kitchen, Shawn is in his element.

In the summer of 2010, Whispering Pines Bible Camp was looking for cooks, and Shawn volunteered to take one week. He enjoyed this so much that he volunteered again the next year and for a couple more years after that. He also cooked for a few church family camps and all-section camps for his Scout group.

Over the years he cooked for other events as people approached him. Everyone was always happy with the food and this really encouraged Shawn going forward.

In 2015 and with the encouragement of Carmen Tuck of Carmen’s Kitchen Shawn decided to start catering in his spare time. Thus, Saucy Shawn’s Fine Eats, came to be and operates out of Airdrie, Alberta, and serves surrounding communities in central and southern Alberta.

2016 saw another change and Shawn was laid-off from his longer-term position as Director, Operations in the electronics manufacturing industry. This led him to try pursing catering more full-time. He spent the summer volunteering as Head Cook for Whispering Pines Bible Camp.

After the summer of 2016 Shawn was contacted by Gull Lake Center who was looking for a new cook. Shawn ending up serving at GLC, as Food Services Manager, until November 2018. During this time, he really developed a feel for cooking for large groups and developed many menus and recipes that he continues to use today. Cooking for 250 people per day in the summer and groups from 20-300 in the offseason really helped to hone his skills.

Since starting his business Shawn has catered many different events, from fundraisers to weddings to Christmas banquets. Shawn understands the many restrictions that are required due to allergies and intolerances and works his best to meet the needs of his customers. Whatever your catering needs, Shawn will do his best for you.

2020 brough new challenges with no large events able to happen and this has let Shawn to start a video series showing people how to cook his food. Shawn benefitted greatly from Carmen’s help (and from others) and he really wants to pass that knowledge on. Take a look at his recipes and maybe you will find your favorite that you can try!
